Art therapy
Therapy through artistic creation
Individual or group art therapy in english in Barcelona
What is it?
Art therapy is a type of accompaniment that uses painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, movement, and in any case artistic resources, to enter into a creative process that allows you to express your own meanings and, if you wish, to dialogue through them.
Art therapy is based the usage of the creative process as a tool to promote emotional and psychological well-being, emphasizing the path of creation and relating in therapy through it with the therapist, rather than seeking for a final result. Art therapy allows non-verbal communication, facilitating the expression of emotions and thoughts that are difficult to verbalize, with attentive and careful accompaniment. The word can come at the end, after finding meanings through creation or during.
Art therapy aims to provide a space and a relationship that supports self-awareness, the management of emotions, and stress, while helping to give meaning to artistically expressed experiences.

What is an Art Therapy session like?
The process begins with an initial proposal or theme by the art therapist, although there’s room for the participant’s personal initiative. A variety of artistic materials are used, such as paint, clay, collage or drawing, adapting them to the needs and preferences of each person.
During the session, the art therapist accompanies without judging, offering reflections and support to help the participant interpret and give meaning to the creations. This process does not seek aesthetic results, but rather promotes self-knowledge, emotional growth and connection with oneself in a therapeutic and creative framework.

First session
Come on time, you don’t need to bring materials. I have an apron if you think you need it.
Questions of interest
Do I have to bring materials?
All materials are available in the room where we will be staying. Maybe sometimes there is a proposal to bring some special object to create something artistic with it.
Do I need to wear special clothes?
It’s not necessary, but I have an apron if you need it.
Can you analyze the hidden meaning of my drawings?
What I offer is a session in which I help you share what you have created, how the creative process was and what the result means to you. I can ask you questions that stimulate you to feel and think about the process and the result, and how it connects to your experiences.
